From KRUGER to KONGWA..and back! – 2 Land Rover nuts, 2 classic Land Rovers, 6 Countries, 9000km, 1 Month…..Can it be done?” Celebrating 71 years of Land Rovers in Africa, Car no. R8664866, a rare 1949 model and it’s young brother, a 1955 model will set off from Hazyview in Mpumalanga on an epic 1 month journey to Kongwa in Tanzania and back.
To revisit the spot where the Brits tried to grow groundnuts in Tanganyika between 1947 and 1951 and where 4 pre-production Land Rovers were sent to for evaluation and testing in 1948 before being signed off for production. The project was a costly failure… but clearly, the Land Rovers passed!
