03 July –
Off at last..wheels rolling at 09h00, destination : Olifants Camp, KNP…200 km…
This is the chance to test 6 months of preparation..both vehicle and personnel. No matter how much time one has.. there’s always last minute panic stations. I’m fitting things into tiny gaps and I think it’s done…then Mac brings along a sack of oranges.…got to have her fresh fruit!! Meet up with the Bells in Hazyview, quick cup of coffee and off.
Into the Kruger at Main gate…we’re in Landy heaven.
Simon waxing lyrical about his “Singer sewing machine”.. I’m listening to every creak and rattle from mine.
He’s leaking water, I’m leaking oil. Scores even. Game viewing at this time if year is great…plenty elephant, buffalo and two different leopard sightings…man, it’s good to be in the ‘park.
Olifants Camp at 16h00.…Simon doing running repairs (thanks Pratley!). Tomorrow (into Mozambique) the real trek begins …
