“Me arse is broken, me car is broken, this country is broken and we’re not having fun..” these were the words that greeted me on Friday morning in Hwange National Park. Drive, drive, drive as my new nickname had become was taking it’s toll on both man, woman and machine.
Simon was keen to spend a second day in Hwange…I was keen to press on and leave Zimbabwe. My generator was giving notice and his car was running rougher every hour. Fuel was also a limiting factor on range options.
Decision was made to head for Victoria Falls and some sanity.
Once in VF and a hasty roadside chat later, Simon chose to stay on for a night then head for Kazangula to drop his car at his Lodge with the option of following in a few days time in his Defender 130…the Beast. We headed for Livingstone in Zambia. Easy border crossing….then on to the Waterfront for a leisurely afternoon and evening.
Next morning…with new battery on hand, we set off alone for Lusaka.
One car left….2600km down, 4000 still to go. Destination: Monze, 300 km away.
